07/08/2013 - Discovered during the Directors’ Fortnight, Thierry de Peretti’s first feature film will be released in August in France and Italy

film profile], which was discovered in May during the Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes and will be released on the same day, Wednesday, August 14^th, in France (Pyramide Distribution) and Italy (Kitchen Film) – a rather rare event. Focused on five young people in serious trouble after they impulsively stole from a deserted and beautiful villa where they had already spent one night partying (one of them being the gardener’s son), the film builds its story in Porto-Vecchio and its surroundings, a zone encircled by marshes where urban and rural parts intertwine chaotically.

Exploring without caricature the topic of the relation between locals and the island’s natives from immigration, Les Apaches also subtly portrays the fatality of violence without making use of the classical tricks of genre cinema, but rather by favouring an interesting offbeat and sociological approach.
