Protagonist Pictures' Directors Fortnight entry goes to Artificial Eye

- Protagonist Pictures' British drama The Selfish Giant is screening today (May 17) as a world premiere at the Directors Fortnight will be released in the UK by Artificial Eye in the autumn

The London-based sales arm for Film4, Vertigo Films and Ingenious Film Partners comes for the sixth time to Cannes with one of its strongest line-ups ever.

 (photo) is screening today (May 17) as a world premiere at the Directors Fortnight and will be released in the UK by Artificial Eye in the autumn. France has also shown a keen interest on Clio Barnard’s youth drama, one of four titles premiering at the Cannes market.

by first time director Paul Wright, the story of a survivor from a fishing boat accident who has to deal with his grief and guilt.

Two other British titles are screening at the market: the teen movie Street Dance All Stars 3D and Kevin Macdonald’s highly anticipated  teen romance How I Live Now [+see also:

, pre-sold to several distributors such as TFI (France), Impuls (Switzerland), Lusomundo (Portugal) and Ablo (Eastern Europe).

Three established directors on Protagonist’s roster are in post-production: Lenny Abrahamson (Garage) and his comedy Frank, starring Michael Fassbender, Ben Wheatley’s period black & white horror drama A Field in England (to be released simultaneously in the cinemas, on TV and VOD on July 5 in the UK), and The Double by Richard Ayoade (Submarine [+see also:

). Territories already closed on Ayoade’s dark comedy are the UK (Studio Canal) and France (Mars Distribution).

Pedgrift is also thrilled to present four attractive new third-party pick-ups. Alive Alone starring Swedish star actress Noomi Rapace and Belgian star Matthias Schoenaerts (Rust and Bone) is a fast-paced US thriller, My Old Lady by US playwright Israel Horovitz stars Maggie Smith and Kevin Kline, Me Him Her by Max Landis, is a US comedy of manners, finally Born to be King is a UK comedy in which Ewan McGregor has four different parts.
