Dans l'ombre: the best mash up at the MAshRome FF is French

- Fabrice Mathieu is the author of the best cinema remix, made out of scenes stolen from noir cinema masterpieces

The second edition of the MAshRome Film Fest, the festival for audiovisual remixing, came to an end in Rome on Saturday 11 May. Top award for best mash up film went to French Dans l'ombre (photo). In the space of 7 minutes and 47 seconds, the film gathered pieces from noir cinema masterpieces, bringing to life the solitary shadow of a man brewing over his life, and wishing to leave it all behind.   

The author is the director himself, screenwriter, engineer and editor Fabrice Mathieu. According to the international jury headed by Hungarian filmmaker Gyorgy Palfi (Final Cut – Ladies and Gentlemen [+see also:

), Mathieu’s work showed he had “absorbed lessons from the great masters, understanding how to extract something beautiful and original.”

Other awards and their winners were: Best Experimental/Remix to I Won't Be Your Mirror by Franco Franchini (USA), a mix of theatre and pictures in pure surrealist fashion; Special Mash to Billy's Band Happiness Wanted by Olga Komarova (Germany), a jazz tale with an awkward main character; eBest Mash Doc to Satellite of Love by Eliyahu Zigdon (Israel), on the entertainment world’s meteorites.
