Apulia FC supports Ozpetek and Manfredonia’s new films

- The Apulia National Film Fund set to finance five cinema productions with a total investment of €760,000

Five new films, of which four are feature length and one is a short, have received funding from the Apulia National Film Fund, the Apulia Film Commission’s fund for cinema productions made in Apulia, for a total investment of €760,000.  

Among selected projects: Ferzan Ozpetek’s (photo) latest film, Allacciate le cinture (R&C Produzioni and Faros Film), with which the Italian Turkish director is returning to Apulia after the success of Loose Cannons [+see also:

. The film, which looks at a couple and the intricate web of family and friends around them, was given financing of €268,000 for 54 days of filming between Lecce, Otranto and Maglie.

Madre Terra by Giulio Manfredonia (Lumiere & Co) was allocated €230,000 for 48 days of filming in the Salento region entirely. The new film by the author of Si può fare [+see also:

 will tell the story of the daily battle to reclaim confiscated mafia land.

In grazia di Dio (Saietta Film) marks the return of Edoardo Winspeare to the director’s seat, but also to Salento where he set previous films, PizzicataSangue vivo and Galantuomini [+see also:

. The film, a story of a family returning to Apulia, fleeing the crisis, will be filmed over 30 days between Lecce, Casarano, Maglie, Tricase, Corsano and Giuliano. It has been given €90,000.

Also set in Salento is La guerra dei cafoni (Classic) by Davide Barletti and Lorenzo Conte, the two men behind Fine pena mai as well as documentary Italian Sud Est with Fluid Video Crew. This latest film will tell the story of the war between two groups of boys in 1975 and will be filmed over 45 days in between Manduria and the provinces of Taranto and Lecce. It has been assigned €150,000.  

Finally, short Alle corde (Overlook Production) by Andrea Simonetti, which tells the story of an amateur boxer who works for steel manufacturers in Taranto, has obtained €20,000 for six days of filming in Taranto.
