Animation times 56 at Cartoon Movie

 by Enrique Gato (photo) will tomorrow open the 15th edition of Cartoon Movie, which will bring together more than 700 professionals in the animation industry for three days in Lyon (200 buyers, including a record number of 120 distributors) for a coproduction forum presenting 56 projects. It is worth mentioning that the European animation sector continues to widen its audience, as almost 20% of projects target young adults and adults.

The showcase will feature nine finished films, nine films in production, 16 in development and 22 concepts, coming from France (17), Denmark (5), Germany (5), Spain (4), the United Kingdom (4), Poland (3), Belgium (3), Ireland (2), Italy (2), Norway (2), the Netherlands (2), Austria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Finland, Estonia, Iceland, Latvia, Luxembourg and Sweden.

Among the films in production, some stand out such as the Swedish-Danish coproduction Beyond Beyond by Esben Toft JacobsenMa maman est en Amérique by Marc Boréal and Thibaut Chatel (France/Luxembourg), Oggy and the Cockroaches by French director Olivier Jean-MarieLe prince et les 108 démons by his compatriot Pascal Morelli and The Art of Happiness by Italian director Alessandro Rak.

As for movies undergoing development, the French delegate productions Music! by duo Patrice Leconte - Régis VialLouise en hiver by Jean-François Laguionie and Le réveil du Zelphire by Arthur Qwack are well worth a mention, together with Cafard by Jan Bultheel (Belgium/Netherlands/France), Alpha by French director Edouard Salier and Capture the Flag by Enrique Gato.
