While Norwegian director Arne Lindtner Næss’ latest kidpic, Casper & Emma – Best Friends, opened strongly in the Norwegian cinemas, to exceed 136,000 admissions domestically for SF Norge after the third weekend (March 4), Næss has started principalphotography for the second adaptation of Norwegian author Tor Åge Bringsværd’s children’s books, Casper & Emma on Winter Vacation.

Casper & Emma – Best Friends is the 10th feature by the Norwegian actor-turned-writer/director, after, aged 58 in 2003, he directed his first film in The Olsen Gang Jr franchise; his previous nine titles have reached a total of 2.3 million admissions, or 258,000 an average, topped by The Olsen Gang Jr Rocks It (2003), which sold 410,000 tickets.

Næss’ latest movie was shot in Budapest and finished editing just two weeks before the premiere. Casper & Emma on Winter Vacation again stars Elias Søvold Simonsen and Nora Amundsen as the two six-year-olds, with Janne Formoe, Hilde Lyrån, Markus Tønseth, Iver Nørve and Sigrun Enge. Silje Hopland will produce the €2.1 million feature for Cinenord Kidstory, which SF Norge will release on February 14, 2014.

In the film Caspar is looking forward to the family’s winter holiday in the South, which is cancelled because of his parents’ quarrelling. Instead Emma invites him on a trip to her grandfather’s cottage at the lake, where they (and their pet animals Miss Rabbit and the Lion Kid) are playing and skiing with Petter, a neighboring boy.
