47th session of Wallimage, from Chile to Monaco

- 47th session of Wallimage: two “beginners” (Xavier Diskeuve and Hubert Toint) alongside Dany Boon, Kad Merad, Olivier Dahan and Nicole Kidman

Wallimage has chosen five projects for its 47th session with, as usual, a judicious mix of local productions and foreign blockbusters.

, Xavier Diskeuve’s first feature, traces the difficult path of Brice, a young man used to living in the city who has just moved to the Ardennes region, and who hopes to give a bit of panache to his new situation by having a few apparitions of the Virgin Mary verified. Of course, dealing with the Vatican can involve a few complications. Diskeuve reunites his companions Christelle Cornil, Nicolas Buysse and François Maniquet, already present in his short films. The film will be produced by Iota and Ezekiel 47:9.

Hubert Toint, the experienced producer with Saga Film (which recently produced 2 Days in New York [+see also:

), also takes the plunge with a first feature film. He is taking over a project handled by Bernard Giraudeau, Mirage d’amour avec Fanfare [+see also:

, adapted from a successful Chilean novel. He will be reunited with Marie Gillain, nearly 20 years after one of her first roles in Marie by Marian Handwerker, which he had produced at the time.

, backing Superchondriac, a reunion between the actor/director and his hero from the Chtis, Kad Merad. The latter, a doctor, thinks he can get rid of his hypochondriac best friend, a nice guy but clingy, by finding the love of his life. Currently being filmed in Belgium, the film, with a budget of 31.5 million euros (including 7.5 millions raised as Tax Shelter) is being co-produced by Artemis Productions, which has hit the jackpot. In a completely different style, Wallimage will also be backing Grace, Olivier Dahan’s biopic dedicated to the Princess of Monaco, played by Nicole Kidman, and partly filmed in Belgium last autumn. An opportunity, maybe, to accompany the film to the Croisette…
