Already awarded, amongst other distinctions, the Palme d'Or in 2012, the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film and four European Film Awards, the film, also nominated five times at the Oscars, won three prizes at the 18th Lumières Awards attributed by foreign journalists working in Paris: Best Film, Best Actress (Emmanuelle Riva) and Best Actor (Jean-Louis Trintignant).
