Belfast Film Fest opens

- 70 films, masterclasses with Jim Sheridan & Deepa Mehta, and a seminar on writing for the cinema from 20 to 28 March

The 3rd Belfast Film Festival (BFF on from20-28 March, opens today with the screening of Liz Gill’s Goldfish Memory starring Flora Montgomery (When Brendan Met Trudy), Stuart Graham (As The Beast Sleeps) and Jean Butler (River Dance). The romantic comedy was produced by Breda Walsh (Goldfish Films) for €1m (Euros1,477m), with support from the Irish Film Board Irish Film Board and Moonstone International.
Supported for the first time by BAFTA Awards sponsor Orange, the BFF will showcase some 70 films over nine days and will organise discussions and screenings around the main theme of ‘Filming Women’. Festival highlights include two master-classes: with Irish filmmaker, Jim Sheridan followed by the screening of his semi-autobiographical film, In America and Indian/Canadian director Deepa Mehta who will present her, Bollywood Hollywood to Irish audiences. Shawn Slovo , the scriptwriter of A World Apart and Captain Corelli’s Mandolin will also be in Belfast to supervise a scriptwriting workshop.
Among the many international titles that will unspool at the BFF are the ensemble film, 11’09’01-September 11 [+see also:

and the UK/Australian co-production, Black & White, that will close the Festival.
