The story, written by Llosa herself, is set in the US and Canada and centres on a mother (Connely) and son (Murphy) who are separated by an accident. She becomes a famous artist and healer, while he becomes a peculiar falconer marked a double absence. A young journalist (Laurent) will bring about a meeting between both.

According to the production company's press release, Cry/Fly is to make the viewer question the meaning of life and art, and to consider living life to the full despite its uncertainties.
