13/11/2012 - The Segovia European Film Festival (MUCES) is to be the first to screen all ten features initially selected to compete for this year’s European Parliament’s LUX Prize

Just a few days after the closing ceremony of the Sevilla European Film Festival, today, November 13, another Spanish city, this time Segovia, is opening its very own cinematic event dedicated to films from the Old Continent. The seventh edition of the Segovia European Film Festival (in Spanish, Muestra de Cine Europeo Ciudad de Segovia: MUCES) is to screen 96 films, 44 of which are in the Official Section, until November 20.

The festival’s programme includes the most interesting, celebrated, and awarded European productions of the year, like Austrian director Michael Haneke’s Love [+see also:

What is more, the Segovia event is to be the first European film festival this year to screen all ten features initially selected to compete for the European Parliament’s LUX Prize, an award handed to films that illustrate the universality of European values, the diversity of European culture, or address the construction process of the European Union. Next Friday, November 16, the festival will hold a debate on European cinema that Cineuropa will cover live via Twitter.

As each year, MUCES is to pay special attention to the cinematography of one European country, this year with 12 feature films from Hungary.
