Gaumont's line-up grows at the AFM

05/11/2012 - 16 titles up for sale in Santa Monica, including Fred Cayayé's new thriller as well as Anne Fontaine, Jeunet, and Winding Refn's next films

At the American Film Market to end on Wednesday, Gaumont's busy international sales team has announced the addition of two new titles to its copious line-up of 16 films. Pre-sales thus started for Fred Cavayé's Mea Culpa (now shooting - read more), a thriller to star Vincent Lindon, Gilles Lellouche, and Nadine Labaki. A story of friendship and adrenaline, the film centres on Franck and Simon, two very efficient policemen who are partners until one day their lives are turned upside down when Simon, drunk, causes a tragic road accident. Several years later, Simon, no longer a member of the police force, must gain back control of his life when his family is threatened.

Not only do Fred Cavayé's films sell very well worldwide, but they are also often turned into remakes. After Anything for Her [+see also:

film profile] became The Next Three Days under the direction of Paul Haggis, Gaumont has just announced at the AFM that the remake rights for Point Blank [+see also:

film profile] have been acquired for the United States (by Working Title and Leverage, Mark Wahlberg's company) and for South Korea.

In Santa Monica, Cécile Gaget's team also launched sales via promo reel for Anthony Marciano's comedy The Brats starring Max Boublil, Alain Chabat, Sandrine Kiberlain, and Mélanie Bernier (production: Légende).

Christophe Offenstein's Turning Tide (for which filming has just kicked off with François Cluzet, Samy Seghir, Virginie Efira, and Guillaume Canet in the cast- read more) also stands out in the line-up.

A flurry of promo reels also unveiled images for several titles in post-production, including Edgar Marie's thriller Paris Countdown (read more) and three comedies: Michaël Youn's Vive la France, Guillaume Gallienne's Me Myself and Mum (read more - starring Diane Kruger), and Anne Fontaine's Two Mothers (starring Naomi Watts and Robin Wright).

Danish filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn's Only God Forgives (sales shared with Wild Bunch) and Jean-Pierre Jeunet's T.S. Spivet complete the extensive panorama of films in post-production, while the line-up also includes the following two titles in production: Nicolas Vanier's Belle and Sebastian (read more) and Luc Vinciguerra's animation film The Magic Snow Flake.

Finally, Gaumont screened Kad Merad and Olivier Baroux's F.B.I. Frog Butthead Investigators [+see also:
