- With one stage and two film productions rolling in Norway, Norwegian author Jo Nesbø leaves for the US to promote his ninth Harry Hole book and write new material

While Norwegian journalist-turned-author Jo Nesbø (photo) is moving to Los Angeles for two months to write a new thriller - not with the anti-authority, anti-sobriety Oslo detective Harry Hole as the lead character - his Doctor Proctor children's character is keeping both Norwegian theatres and cinemas busy.

His 2007 book Doctor Proctor's Fart Powder - the story of two children's encounter with a new neighbour, an eccentric professor who invents strange potions, including an industrial strength fart powder that sends people to outer space - will be adapted for the stage by Norway's Riksteatret.

Norwegian pubcaster NRK has backed Nesbø's Occupied, a television series from Swedish producer Marianne Gray, of Yellow Bird Norge AS, with Norway's Hummelfilm AS (Gudny Hummelvoll). Scripted by Norwegian sceenwriter Harald Rosenløw Eeg (Hawaii, Oslo, Troubled Water [+see also:

), it will go into production next year.

Next month (October) Nesbø will move to Los Angeles and stay with his agent, Niclas Salomonsson, partly to promote the publishing of his ninth Hole book, Gjenferd, partly to write new material - his first since 2008's Headhunters without Hole leading the investigation.

He will also find time to check on The Snowman (2007), the seventh Hole novel, now in pre-production for US director Martin Scorsese. Scripted by Matthew Michael Carnahan, it will be produced by Working Title Films' Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, with Nesbø and Salomonsson as executive producers.
