The film's screenplay, written by the director and Jérôme Tonnerre (already co-screenwriters for Backstage), focuses on Cathy (Catherine Deneuve), a woman in her sixties, who suddenly finds herself abandoned by her lover and in charge of a family business on the brink of collapse. What should she do with her life? She jumps in her car to drive around the block, but instead escapes. Along the way, there will be chance meetings and a gala of former beauty queens, she will renew ties with her daughter and meet her grandson, and perhaps she will find love at the end of the road... The future will start to look brighter.

Produced by Olivier Delbosc and Marc Missonnier for Fidélité Films, Elle s'en va is co-produced by Rhône-Alpes Cinéma. The film has been pre-acquired by Orange Cinéma Séries and supported, among others, by Soficinéma, Cofimage, Palatine Etoile, the Region of Brittany, and Wild Bunch who will release the film in France. Filming should last eight weeks until July 4 in Brittany (five weeks) and Rhône-Alpes (three weeks). Elle Driver will be in charge of international sales.
