(adapted from the children’s novels by Cornelia Funke), has started shooting an adaptation of the 2009 German literary sensation that sold 1.1 million copies, Der Geschmack von Apfelkernen (lit. “The taste of apple seeds”) by Katharina Hagena.

The film, which is produced by Bavaria and Dr. Wilfried Ackermann Filmproduktion, was co-written by producer Uschi Reich (screenwriter for The Wild Chicks) and Rochus Hahn. When an old lady dies, her three daughters and granddaughter Iris come together, in a flurry of family memories and secrets. The crew is currently filming between Lübeck and Kiel, in the Schleswig-Holstein region. Towards the end of June, they will move to Hamburg, then Frankfurt and Marburg.
