Caviar in writing, development, and production for the VAF
- What a high-flying cast for the VAF commission’s latest choices, with Hilde Van Mieghem, Hans Herbot, Gust Van den Berghe, and Geoffrey Enthoven!
The Vlaams Audiovisueel Fonds has just announced the results for its commission for aid to feature films. Caviar Films has done extremely well with funding for projects in writing, in develpment, and in production! In the writing stage, there is De adem van God, a first feature by Willem Wallyn, who was first noticed writing for television. In production, there is Sprakeloos, a new film by Hilde Van Mieghem, the adaptation of a novel by diverse writer Tom Lannoye. In it, he evokes the death of his mother, an actress whose career is shattered when she loses their voice, a theme that particularly resonates with Hilde Van Mieghem, who is an actress herself.
Finally, Caviar received financial support for the development of Black by the wordy Hans Herbot. So wordy, in fact, that he was also awarded support to write De Behandeling, produced by Eyeworks. Between these two projects, Herbot has also found the time to release five episodes of the series The Artists, a co-production between six European countries that will soon be broadcast on television and the web, where users will be invited to participate in the investigation at the heart of the series. Surprisingly, Caviar is also in charge of its production!
Minds Meet will receive funding for two atypical projects. First, there is Lucifer, the third installment in the trilogy by Gust Van den Berghe. Discovered in Cannes two years ago with Little Baby Jesus of Flandr [+see also:

film profile], Van den Berghe is back at work. The VAF also chose to support the co-production Je suis mort mais j’ai des amis (lit. “I am dead but I have friends” - led by La Parti Brussels), a third film by the Malandrin brothers.
Finally, the VAF will help to develop Geoffrey Enthoven’s ambitious new project. After both national and international success with Hasta la Vista [+see also:

film profile], the latter has thrown himself into a Canadian co-production in English. In Winnipeg, a hotel -owner originally from Bruges goes to Canada to break the heart of the woman who broke the heart of his dead twin brother. Mariano Vanhoof from Fobic Films, is in charge of production, as for Hasta la Vista before it.
