"Before all the great events, the authorities were busy giving the host city the best image possible. The same is possibly now happening in London. I passed through Sevilla before Expo '92. This, cleaning the house before the great event, is what the Grupo 7 [+see also:

do."

This is how producer José Antonio Félez (Atípica Films) describes one of the most awaited films for the first half of 2012, Grupo 7 by Alberto Rodríguez. The film will be released internationally at the end of April in the World Narrative competition at the 11th edition of the Tribeca Film Festival from April 18 to 29.

"Tribeca is a festival that is becoming increasingly more important for the American and international market", stresses Vicente Canales, director of Film Factory Entertainment, the film's international sales agent. "Our intention is to facilitate sales in the United States with this presentation, and then go on to the Cannes Film Market, where it will be massively presented to all buyers."

The film was presold to Germany (Tiberius) during the latest European Film Market in Berlin, he adds.

The film's international presentation in the American competition will happen only a few days after its release in Spain on April 4 by Warner Bros. España on about 250 copies.

Grupo 7, Alberto Rodríguez's fifth feature film (the fourth on his own), with a screenplay by Rafael Cobos, is about a drug enforcement police unit whose name gives the film its title, following in particular agents Ángel (Mario Casas) and Rafael (Antonio de la Torre) (see the news). "[Before the great events] all qualms are lost in order to acheive a certain goal, which here is cleaning up the streets" says Félez, who produced Grupo 7 with Gervasio Iglesias. "A blind eye is turned on the methods used."
