43rd Wallimage session selects first-rate projects
Two majority Belgian productions were selected at the 43rd Wallimage session. Post Partum is Delphine Noels’s debut feature, produced by FraKas Productions. Here, the director traces the descent into hell of a young mother (Mélanie Doutey) overwhelmed by a fierce case of baby blues. Produced with France’s Balthazar Prod, and PTD Luxembourg, the film has received backing from the Film Centre of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, and Film Fund Luxembourg.
The other majority Belgian project is the forthcoming film by Fabrice Du Welz (pictured), Alleluia, produced by La Parti. Looseley adapted from Leonard Kastle’s The Honeymoon Killers, the film, starring Bouli Lanners and Jeanne Balibar, will see Du Welz re-team with his DoP Benoît Debie. Before that, he is scheduled to shoot Colt 45 in the spring, an urban thriller written by Fathi Beddiar, starring Simon Abkarian, Joey Starr and Gérard Lanvin, and produced by La Petite Reine.
The selection also includes a prestigious Belgian co-production, with a first-rate cast and crew: the Dardenne brothers as producers, Jacques Audiard behind the camera, and actors Bouli Lanners, Marion Cotillard, and Matthias Schoenaerts, whose international career is seriously taking off after his appearance in the US remake of Loft [+see also:

film profile]. Produced by Why Not Productions, Rust and Bone is currently shooting. It is expected to be delivered next May, in time for a screening on the Croisette.
Two other films will also get backing: Fabienne Godet’s A Place On Earth, featuring Benoît Poelvoorde, Céline Valette, Guillaume Gouix and Héléna Noguerra; and Régis Roinsard’s Popular, starring Déborah François and Romain Duris.
Finally, the following were selected at the 8th Wallimage Animation session: the project for an adaptation of the comedy musical The Pink Soldier by Louis Chédid (produced in Belgium by Nexus); Song of the Sea by Tomm Moore (The Secret of Kells [+see also:
