Untouchable enjoys phenomenal success

(see review) has got off to a dazzling start in French theatres. Launched by Gaumont on 508 screens, the film achieved the fourth best box-office start of the year with, nonetheless, a much lower number of prints than the three titles ahead of it in the rankings.

As a recap, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 [+see also:

kicked off in July with 2.5m admissions on 812 prints (an average of 3,119 admissions per print) for a final total of 6.5m viewers. The Adventures of Tintin clocked in after five days at 2.24m admissions on 850 prints (2,645 admissions per print) and is currently nearing 4m viewers after 12 days on release. also attracted 2.24m viewers in five days, but on 1,036 prints (2,166 admissions per print), reaching 8.13m admissions at the end of its run. With its extraordinary average of 3,255 admissions per print, Untouchable therefore looks set to be a phenomenal hit destined to reach the box-office heights.

This spectacular enthusiasm hasn’t, however, prevented three other French films from continuing their impressive theatrical runs. Maïwenn’s Poliss [+see also:
