Headhunters, A Funny Man: Top local openings in Norway and Denmark for 2011

film profile] took 104,997 admissions during the August 26-28 weekend, making it this year’s best local opening, and second only to the 140,000 taken by in 2008 by Max Manus [+see also:

Following its world premiere on the Piazza Grande at the Locarno International Film Festival, the Jo Nesbø adaptation was screened at the Norwegian International Film Festival in Haugesund, before a special presentation is due to take place at the Toronto Festival, from September 8-18.
With Aksel Hennie in the lead, Headhunters was produced by Asle Vatn and Marianne Gray, for Friland and Yellow Bird Norge AS, in collaboration with Nordisk Film & TV AS (NO). Denmark’s TrustNordisk has licensed the film to 45 countries.
In Denmark, Danish director Martin Zandvliet’s A Funny Man, a biopic of the late Danish comedian Dirch Passer, sold 67,100 tickets for Nordisk Film Distribution – a 2011 best, but still 70,000 fewer than Klovn–The Movie in 2010. Its first festival showing will be during Toronto’s Contemporary World Cinema.
