Celebrating Tallinn as the Culture Capital of Europe, and the 80th anniversary of Estonian animation, Animated Dreams – the Tallinn International Animation Film Festival – will invite young and upcoming filmmakers for a training and networking AnimaCampus between November 15-19.

“The five-day programme should be an opportunity for up to 100 young professionals from East and West to learn from top animation experts and to build up their own international networks,” explained AnimaCampus programme Director Heilika Pikkov. ”It will be a mix of animation art and industry, traditional animation techniques and new media technologies.”

The new creative platform will be staged during the Animated Dreams International Animation Film Festival (November 16-20), originally an offshoot of the Black Nights Film Festival which, since 1999, has developed its own profile as well as an international competition for short animated films, with a ‘Wooden Wolf’ grand prize.

This year’s AnimaCampus Tallinn is aimed at filmmakers from the Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden); the Baltic states (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania); South Caucasus (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia) and Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan).

Besides Animated Dreams, the 15th edition of the Black Nights Film Festival will include the competition main programme (November 18-30), the Black Market (November 28-December 1) and the Baltic Event film and co-production forum (November 30-December 2). Last year, Festival Director Tiina Lokk screened 680 films from 86 sections and took more than 65,000 admissions.
