Les Arcs launches call for European co-production projects

by

After its impressive first two editions in 2009 and 2010, Les Arcs European Film Festival is preparing its third edition, which will run from December 10-17, 2011. Besides the line-up of about 50 features and a Focus on Italy (including its funding mechanisms), the event will present 20 European film projects at the Co-production Village.

From December 10-13, representatives of the selected projects (narrative, animated or documentary features, in development or in post-production, of European initiative and directed by a European) will be invited to Les Arcs where they will meet with potential co-producers (notably members of EAVE – European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs), distributors (including some from Europa Distribution and the French companies belonging to DIRE), regional funds (Rhône-Alpes Cinéma and other partners of European network Cine-Regio), international sellers and representatives from the financial sector.

The submitted projects are at a considerable advantage if they already have backing from a European region and have secured 25% of their financing.

Headed by Jérémy Zelnik and Pierre-Emmanuel Fleurantin, the Co-production Village 2011 will offer two new additions. The Work in Progress screenings will give professionals the chance to discover a selection of five films in post-production and on the lookout for additional funding, distributors and international sellers.

Meanwhile, the Transmedia Meetings will involve a roundtable on this subject organised in partnership with Europa Distribution, as well as interprofessional meetings with related sectors like Internet and video games. Once again, the Village will also focus on debates and case studies on the problems of producing and distributing European films.

Registration of submissions for the Co-production Village is open until September 23 on the festival’s website.
