RELEASES Belgium

Smells and noises

by

Eric Pittare’s latest film Le bruit, l’odeur et quelques étoiles (The Noise, The Smell and A Few Stars) is released in Belgium on Friday 7 February. The story unfolds during a cold winter’s night, when a teenager is killed by a policeman during an attempted robbery. The boy was just 17 and his name was Habib, although everyone called him Pipo. As the news of his death spreads, the city insurges. This is a film about a delicate issue made all the more poignant by Belgian rappers’ Zebda’ musical commentary. The film is a Franco-Belgian co-production by Jean-Philippe La Roche for Belgium’s Nota Bene, Les Films d’Ici à Lou, La Tawa, with financial support from the CNC, the French community in Belgium and Belgian TV distributors, as well as Canal+, FASILD and Eurimages.
