King rules on Norwegian screens

As expected, Marius Holst’s King of Devil’s Island [+see also:

film profile] opened strong last Friday, to take first place at the Norwegian box office for Euforia Film, outperforming the other new release, Walt Disney’s Tron: Legacy that had to make do with third place, behind local animated title Elias and the Treasure of the Sea by Lisa I. Osvoll.
“The last weekend before Christmas is a time when many are busy with Christmas arrangements and reunions, so it’s great to see that so many people still went to the cinema to see the film,” said Devil’s Island producer Karin Julsrud (4 ½ Productions). The film sold 23,663 tickets in three days from 87 screens.
Three other Norwegian films will most likely hold on to their positions in Norway’s Top Ten until the New Year: family film Elias and the Treasure of the Sea, Bent Hamer’s Home For Christmas [+see also:

film profile], still number six after six weeks and over 64,000 admissions; and Andre Overdal’s thriller The Troll Hunter, over 261,000 admissions so far.
A couple of European films will also try to lure film lovers to local cinemas during the festivitites. On Christmas day, Arthaus will release the multiple award-winning French film Of Gods and Men [+see also:
