FESTIVALS Belgium

Enjoy Anima

by

Yet another new name for the The animated design and film animation festival of Brussels, the 21st edition of which is scheduled to unroll in the Belgian capital from 26 Feb-9 March 2003.
As the name implies, the event specialises in the art of animation and this edition will open with French director Pascal Morelli’s Corto Maltese. The programme includes an official section for feature-length animated films (including Enzo D’Alò’s latest Momo, a Franco-German co-production), Belgian and international short films, retrospectives and entire mattinées dedicated to Belgium’s younger filmgoers.

Webmania 2003
This year’s most significant novelty is an online animated film competition called battezzata “Webanima 2003” where 15 finalists will compete for a Gran Prix of Euros2,500) presented by SPIROU.COM (The Dupuis Publishing House S.A.).

Futuranima
The “Anima” festival is setting aside four days to get an overview of the current state of the animated film industry and its applications. Only young sector operators and students can take part since they are the future of this industry. Entitled Futuranima this important sidebar section will focus on key issues like multimedia, storyboards, the relationship between film animation and cartoons and videogames. All those wishing to take part are requested to send in an entry form no later than 10 February 2003.
