INSTITUTIONS Spain

Support for Europe

- Now is the time to submit requests for the ICAA-backed grants to help promote the distribution of European films

ICAA (Spain’s Institute for Film and Audiovisual Arts) opened their submissions list for requests for financial support for the distribution of European films in Iberian cinemas on 27 January.
Despite a 33.3 per cent cut in 2003 to funds earmarked for this purpose, the Institute, which is headed by José Maria Otero is carrying on regardless and coming to the help of distributors by paying for prints, sub-titling, advertising and theatrical distribution, with an upper per-film limit of Euros60,000.
Requests must therefore be submitted no later than 21 April to Office of the Minister for Culture. After having examined the quality and worthiness, the sum total of its funding and the distribution strategy of the titles submitted, the ICAA will inform the lucky candidates about how much money they will receive.
