24/01/2003 - Ozon’s 8 Women sweeps the boards with 12 nominations, followed by The Pianist’s 10 plus a new Cèsar for Best European Film of the Year

Daniel Toscan du Plantier, the president of the French Academy of Film Arts and Sciences today announced the nominations for the 28th edition of the Césars, the French equivalent of the Oscars. A total of 20 statuettes will be presented in Paris on 22 February.

film profile] with 10, and Costa-Gavras’ Amen with 7. Cédric Klapisch’s L’auberge espagnole got 6 and Alain Chabat’s Astérix & Obélix : Mission Cléopatra 4.

The nominees for best actor are Daniel Auteuil for L’adversaire, François Berléand for Mon idole, Adrien Brody for The Pianist, Bernard Campan for Se souvenir des belles choses and Mathieu Kassovitz for Amen.
Best actress of the year will see Fanny Ardant for 8 Women up against Ariane Ascaride for Marie-Jo and her two husbands, Juliette Binoche for Décalage horaire, Isabelle Carré for Se souvenir des belles choses and Isabelle Huppert for 8 Women.
