CHRISTMAS FILMS Belgium

An animated holiday

by

Belgium will have an “animated” Christmas this year. The holiday programming schedule for younger audiences includes Drengen der ville gøre det umulige (The Boy Who Wanted to Be A Bear), a co-production by France, Norway and Denmark. The particularity of this film is that every single frame began life as a hand-drawn water colour that was subsequently animated. Etoiles Filantes is a compilation of Scandinavian animated short films for audiences of three years and over.
Belgian adults will laugh at an all-French comedy entitled Ah! Si j’étais riche by Gérard Bitton and Michel Munz and starring Italy’s Valeria Bruni Tedeschi. Papillon, the story of a fanatical butterfly collector directed by Philippe Muyl and with Michel Serrault is also on general release. For those of a tougher disposition, may we suggest the self-descriptive Carnages, a first-time film about life and death by Delphine Gleize starring Chiara Mastroianni and Angela Molina.
