"Filmmaking at any cost" in Brussels

Once again Brussels is hosting the “Filmer à Tout Prix” (Filmmaking At All Costs) Festival, scheduled to run until 30 November.
Also known as Cinema of Reality, the 10th edition of this festival organised by the French community’s Film and Audiovisual Center and the Socialist Group for Action and Reflection on Audiovisual Issues have put together a programme of 100 Belgian and foreign films that will be screened at the Flagey, and the Botanique theatres and at the Museum of Cinema.
This year’s edition was organised in collaboration with Belgium’s Royal Film Archive which made a comprehensive selection of films ranging from dramas to documentaries and includes thirty Belgian productions and fifty foreign films selected for the A Special Idea of Cinema. Fifteen Portuguese films by cineastes like Antonio Reis, Manoel de Oliveira, Joâo Bothelo and Pedro Costa will also be screened. De l’autre côté by Chantal Akerman will open the festival that includes a tribute to the Human Rights League with the screening of Francesca Comencini’s Carlo Giuliani, ragazzo. The permanent Education Service has organised a meeting about three video and cinema projects that are currently in production in Brussels, London and Marseille.
