Flemish director, Erik Van Looy (Ad Fundum) is scheduled to start filming L’Affaire Alzheimer (The Alzheimer Affair) early next year. Based on the noir by Jef Geerarets that won a major Dutch literary award in 1986, it is the story of a vendetta planned and executed in Antwerp’s criminal underworld by an American mercenary.
Produced by Erwin Provoost’s MMG, behind hits like Crazy Love, Wait Until Spring Bandini by Dominique Deruddere, Stijn Coninx’s Koko Flanell and TV series, Windkracht 10 and Flikken, the cast of The Alzheimer Affair features numerous well-known Flemish actors like Koen De Bouw, Werner De Smedt and Jan Decleir and the film should be released in Belgium at the end of 2003.
It was financed by the Flemish audiovisual fund and by state broadcaster, VRT, who will adapt it into a 3-part TV miniseries.
