Delpy’s 2 Days in New York gets mini-treaty funding

Four French/German feature film projects were selected at the last 2010 session of the committee led by the National Film and Moving Image Centre (CNC) and the FFA for funding granted through the co-production mini-treaty.

Among them is Julie Delpy’s fifth feature, 2 Days in New York. A sequel to the major hit 2 Days in Paris [+see also:

, the film has just wrapped its six-week shoot in Manhattan. It stars the actress-director and US thesp Chris Rock.

The majority French production (72.5%) via Polaris Film Productions & Finance, with a 27.5% production quota for Germany’s Senator received €150,000 in funding. It will be distributed in France and sold internationally by Rezo. Delpy has also shot another film in the interim, Skylab (see news), which is expected to be launched theatrically by Mars Distribution in September 2011.

Two other majority French productions were chosen. Funding to the tune of €245,000 will go to Confession d'un Enfant du Siècle (“Confession of a Child of the Century”), an adaptation of Alfred de Musset’s work by Sylvie Verheyde (Stella [+see also:

). The film is 60% produced by France via Les Films du Veyrier and 30% by Germany (Integral Film).

A grant for the same amount will go to Michael Haneke’s These Two (see newsLes Films du Losange 80% – X Filme Creative Pool 20%).

Finally, the committee chose to award €300,000 to a majority German production: Pia Marais’s Layla Fourie (Pandora Filmproduktion 49% – Cinéma Defacto 21%).
