Masked hero Águila Roja coming to big screen

A film version of hit television series Águila Roja (“Red Eagle”) is underway, produced by Daniel Ecija (Chef’s Special [+see also:

) for Globomedia and Versátil Cinema. Shooting started on August 16 and will take place in locations around Madrid and Segovia until September 24.

This adventure series set in Spain’s Golden Age captivated TV audiences for over two seasons. The film, helmed by José Ramón Ayerra, is scripted by Pilar Nadal, Juan Manuel Córdoba and Guillermo Cisneros. It tells a story of court intrigues in which masked avenger-hero Águila Roja has to save the Kingdom of Spain from an international conspiracy.

The cast comprises actors from the series, including David Janer, Javier Gutiérrez, Francis Lorenzo, Inma Cuesta, Myriam Gallego and Pepa Aniorte.

Águila Roja will be released in Spain by Hispano Foxfilm.
