Neumann allocates €1.52m in film funding

German Culture Minister Bernd Neumann has announced that €1.52m will be allocated to 12 feature-length film projects (including narrative and documentary films) and four screenplays in development (out of 77 projects and 88 screenplays that were submitted).

Among the five selected narrative feature projects are forthcoming titles by Veit Helmer (Absurdistan [+see also:

), Baikonur (€250,000 in funding); and Matthias Glasner (The Free Will), Gnade (€200,000). The latter is produced by Knudsen & Streuber and scripted by famous and prolific Danish writer Kim Fupz Aakeson.

Janine Meerapfel’s Der Deutsche Freund (produced by Geißendörfer Film) has received €250,000; Hendrik Handloegten’s Summer Window (produced by Zentropa Entertaiments) €200,000; and Heide and Christian Schwochow’s Die Unsichtbare (produced by teamWorx) €150,000.

Seven feature-length documentary projects have been granted between €30,000-70,000, including the next film by Latvian director Rosa von Praunheim, Stricher.
