Eurocinema and Cineuropa team up to promote European films

by

Under a new partnership between Eurocinema and Cineuropa, the former will incorporate the latter’s exclusive interviews into its upcoming entertainment news show, Eurocinema News!, dedicated to the promotion of European arts and entertainment.

Since its inception in 2005, Eurocinema has become the leading on-demand provider of European films in North America and is now available to 30 million US and Canadian households via main cable, satellite and telcos. The service offers a range of European and international box office hits, each of which is presented as part of a hosted, two-hour block of programming that also includes award winning short films.

Through its recent partnership with Metan Media – dedicated to bringing western style entertainment to China and introducing high-quality content from China to audiences in the west – Eurocinema plans to distribute Eurocinema News! and Cineuropa’s interviews in China via several broadband portals as well as broadcasting television, to over 100 million homes.

“We are glad to make the incredible work of the best European filmmakers available to North American and Chinese homes,” said Sebastien Perioche (see Cineuropa interview), Eurocinema chairman and CEO. “Promoting European culture abroad is vital, and we are pleased to collaborate with Cineuropa in an effort to offer film lovers and the film industry as a whole the best of foreign cinema”.

“Thanks to VOD and services like Eurocinema, great European films are finally available on foreign screens,” added Cineuropa Director Valerio Caruso.

The agreement between Eurocinema and Cineuropa offers European filmmakers a chance to discuss their work in a video interview, and turn potential viewers into potential buyers of their films.
