Thrillers galore at Beaune

today opens the 2nd Beaune International Thriller Film Festival (April 8-11).

The UK film, set to be released in France by Rezo, will screen in the main competition, which includes eight titles. They will be judged by a jury presided by Olivier Marchal and comprising screenwriter Abdel Raouf Dafri, director Steve Suissa, actress Marie Gillain and actor Gilbert Melki.

The United Kingdom will also be represented by J. Blakeson’s The Disappearance of Alice Creed [+see also:

, which won the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar 2010 (and will be launched by Pretty Pictures on May 5).

; Danny Lerner’s French/Israeli co-production Walls; and Nader T. Homayoun’s French/Iranian film Tehran (to be released by Haut et Court on April 14).

The Beaune festival, which will pay homage to US director James Gray (who will give a cinema lesson) and actor Samuel L. Jackson, will also host a retrospective entitled "New York Polar" (“New York Thriller”).

Finally, screening out of competition is Alexandre Arcady’s Comme les 5 Doigts de la Main (“Like the 5 Fingers of the Hand”, set to hit theatres on April 28), starring Patrick Bruel, Vincent Elbaz, Pascal Elbé, Eric Caravaca and Françoise Fabian.
