Scenic Yorkshire will play host to two major film productions soon. Principal photography commences on 12th April in Leeds for Tyrannosaur, actor Paddy Considine’s (Dead Man’s Shoes) debut as writer/director.

The Warp X and Inflammable Films production is backed by Film4, the UK Film Council, Screen Yorkshire, Optimum Releasing, EM Media, Madman and NonStop Entertainment, and stars Peter Mullan (My Name is Joe), Olivia Colman (Hot Fuzz [+see also:

film profile]) and Eddie Marsan (Happy-Go-Lucky [+see also:

film profile]). Tyrannosaur is an exploration of how love and friendship can be found in the darkest of places.

Come May end, BAFTA-winning director Andrea Arnold (Fish Tank [+see also:

film profile]) will direct a feature adaptation for Ecosse Films of the classic Emily Bronte novel Wuthering Heights, from a screenplay by acclaimed British writer Olivia Hetreed (The Girl with a Pearl Earring [+see also:

film profile]). Casting is underway, with a second casting call for the lead roles taking place at Leeds this week, as the first did not throw up any satisfactory results. Arnold is determined to cast unknown local actors for the sake of authenticity.

Producers are Robert Bernstein and Douglas Rae for Ecosse Films and Kevin Loader. Wuthering Heights is co-financed by Film4, the UK Film Council, Screen Yorkshire and Goldcrest. Artificial Eye acquired UK rights from HanWay Films who are looking after worldwide sales.
