Adapted by the director and Guillaume Lemans from Alain Wagneur’s Terminus Plage, The Law of Violence revolves around the character of Benoît, an untroubled young man, who sets out in search of his father. The latter has suddenly disappeared and his corrupt past re-emerges. Pursued by dangerous gangsters, Benoît will have no other choice but to fight.

The Law of Violence is produced by Alain Benguigui and Thomas Verhaeghe for Sombrero Films for around €5.5m. The budget includes co-production support from Belgian company Saga Film (Hubert Toint and Jean-Jacques Neira), pre-acquisitions from Canal +, Orange Cinéma Séries and Ciné Cinéma, and backing from the Nord-Pas de Calais (via CRRAV) and Bourgogne regions.

The eight-week shoot will take place in Brussels, Lille and Bourgogne. Haut et Court will release the film in French theatres in the second half of 2011 and TF1 International will handle international sales.

Sombrero Films also has Yann Gozlan’s Captifs in post-production. This thriller, starring Zoé Félix, Arié Elmaleh and Eric Savin, is set in Kosovo and centres on some humanitarian workers who are kidnapped by organ traffickers. Bac Films will release the title in France in the second half of 2010 and sales are being managed by TF1 International.
