, opened in the UK March 12 with £378,434 from 114 screens. The number six placing in the UK box office charts is a rare high for a film not in the English language.

, opened in Spanish cinemas on March 12 to similar success. Distributed by Vertigo, the movie took more than €260,000 in its opening weekend. Box office receipts for all three films in the Millennium trilogy have so far grossed over €117.5 m worldwide. There are plans for an American remake, with David Fincher tipped to direct the first instalment.

Emmanuelle Bouilhaguet, Scripted Sales Director at Zodiak, said, “Yet again Millennium has delivered to brand new cinema audiences.
