Competing for honours in the acting categories are Birgit Minichmayr, who picked up the Berlinale Silver Bear in 2009 for her role in Everyone Else, and Fabian Hinrichs, winner of the Max-Ophüls Award for Best Actor for Gravity [+see also:

The Lolas, or German Film Awards (Deutscher Filmpreiss), which are presented every year by the German Culture Ministry (BKM), have a prize budget of almost €3m. Over half of this will be spent on the Best Film category, with six nominees and three gold, silver and bronze awards.

Other categories include Best Children’s Film, Best Documentary, Best Leading Actor or Actress, Best Supporting Actor or Actress, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Score, Best Editing, Best Set Design, Best Costume Design, Best Make-up and Best Sound, as well as the honorary prizes.

The awards ceremony will take place in Berlin on April 19.
