3rd Franco-Spanish Film Meetings kick off

After a first edition in Paris in 2006 and a second in Madrid in 2008, the Franco-Spanish Film Meetings return to the French capital today for the 3rd edition, organised by Unifrance.

A total of 150 professionals from both countries will gather for two days of reflection and exchanges, which will end with a co-production market including 18 projects. There will be five roundtables at the event, which will be opened by Véronique Cayla (president of the National Film and Moving Image Centre - CNC), Ignasi Guardans (director-general of the ICAA) and Antoine de Clermont-Tonnerre (president of Unifrance).

This Tuesday, a presentation of the French and Spanish film markets will be given by Pedro Perez (president of the FAPAE). Meanwhile, the new head of the ICAA will analyse the new Spanish film law.

This will be followed by a debate on The range of legally-available films and the fight against piracy, with speakers including Aldo Olcese (president of the Spanish Coalition of Artists and Audiovisual Cultural Industry) and Jacques Toubon, former president of Eurimages.

The day will close with a panel focusing on changes in film financing, moderated by producer Eric Nevé (Les Chauves-souris). Other participants will include Gaël Nouaille (Wild Bunch), Vicente Canales (Filmax), Gustavo Ferrada (director of TVE’s Film division), Bernard Tani (Orange) and Joaquin Garcia (Télefonica).

On Wednesday, there will be a report on the current state of French/Spanish co-productions, with a panel including producers Fernanda del Nido (Tic Tac Producciones), Jean des Forêts (Les Films du Requin ), Ibon Comensana (Arcadia Motion Pictures), Juan Gordon (Morena Films) and Eric Tavitian (Ran Entertainment). The Ibermedia and Fonds Sud programmes will then be presented.

The professionals in attendance include representatives from the following French companies: Gaumont, Pathé, UGC YM, Agat Films, Les Films du Losange, Celluloid Dreams, Films Distribution, La Fabrique de Films, Sombrero and TF1 International.

The Spanish delegation includes Mediapro, Zebra Producciones, Wanda Vision and Mallerich Films.
