Italian cinema galore in the 2010 lineups (2)

Ozpetek, Salvatores, Mazzacurati and Luchetti are some of the auteurs in the lineup unveiled by 01 Distribution at the Cinema Professional Days held in Sorrento. On March 12, Rai Cinema’s distribution arm is bringing out Mine vaganti by Ferzan Ozpetek; produced by Fandango, the film stars Riccardo Scamarcio and Alessandro Preziosi.

Domenico Procacci’s production company has also signed on O1 for the release of the latest film by Carlo Mazzacurati, La passione, starring Silvio Orlando. On March 26 it’s time for Happy Family to hit the theatres; directed by Gabriele Salvatores, the pic stars Fabio De Luigi, Diego Abatantuono, and Fabrizio Bentivoglio (produced by Colorado Film).

Anticipation is mounting for Elio Germano’s latest turn as well. He plays a construction foreman in La nostra vita by Daniele Luchetti (produced by Cattleya, and coming to theatres on April 23).

A May release is in the offing for Dalla vita in poi by Gianfrancesco Lazotti, starring Cristiana Capotondi and Filippo Nigro, and produced by Rai Cinema. May also brings Matrimoni e altri disastri by Nina di Majo (I.T.C. Movie), with a cast that features Fabio Volo, Luciana Littizzetto, and Margherita Buy. Maschi contro femmine is the name of the new comedy by Fausto Brizzi, produced by I.I.F. Italian International Film and scheduled for release in October.

Youthful audiences can look forward to the animated film Cuccioli - Il codice di Marco Polo by Sergio Manfio, based on a popular TV series and produced with the director’s brother, Francesco. 01 is distributing the film on January 22.

Top-notch Italian cinema also abounds in the lineup announced for Warner Bros Pictures Italia. Among other films, there’s Io loro e Lara, the new comedy directed by Carlo Verdone, who also stars in the film along with Laura Chiatti. This is the first Italian film produced entirely by the major. Then there’s Cosa voglio di più by Silvio Soldini, con Alba Rohrwacher, Pierfrancesco Favino, and Giuseppe Battiston (produced by Lumière & Co.); and Sul mare by Alessandro D’Alatri, based on a book by Anna Pavignano (produced by D’Alatri’s Buddy Gang with Warner).
