9:06 triumphs in Portoroz

The 12th Festival of Slovenian Film in Portoroz (Oct 1-3) wrapped up with Igor Sterk's 9:06 [+see also:

winning nine Vesna awards, including Best Film, Director and Screenplay.

The film, made by AAC Productions, Gustav Film and Mogador Film, with participation from Slovenian Television and ZDF/ ARTE, tells the story of a police inspector who becomes obsessed with the investigation of a very unusual case.

9:06 won Best Actor for Igor Samobor, who also won the award for Actor of the Year from Stop magazine. Silva Cusin received the Best Supporting Actress prize, Petar Markovic got Best Editing and Simon Tansek was dubbed Best Cinematographer. Best Sound Design went to Jurij Zornik and best music to Jure Ferina and Pavao Miholjevic.

Polona Juh won the Best Actress nod for Miran Zupancic's Couples At Stake. Miha Knific received Best Production Design and Best Short Film awards for The Cloud Catcher while Marta Frelih's Alma M. Karlin won best documentary. The Best Animated Film prize went to Boris Dolenc's Thumbelina.

The only award for Sarajevo Film Festival competition entry Slovenian Girl [+see also:

was Best Supporting Actor, for Primoz Primat, who also featured in Miha Hocevar's Distortion and Petar Pasic's short E-pigs.

Special awards also went to Spela Rozin for her role in Janez Lapajne's Personal Baggage and Goran Vojnovic for directing the documentary The Chinese Are Coming. The film critics opted for Martin Turk's medium-length Room 408.
