Proposed by their respective production companies, the five nominees will now be judged by a commission created by ANICA as representatives of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Science. The commission – made up of 14 members that include Italian producers, journalists and directors – will meet September 29 to choose Italy’s official submission.

The final Oscar nominees for all categories will be announced on February 2, 2010.
