Born in London in 1969, Steve McQueen is one of Britain’s most influential artists. He studied at Chelsea School of Art and at Goldsmiths College before taking a course at the Tisch School of the Arts in New York.
He has exhibited at the most important museums and galleries in the world, receiving the prestigious Turner Prize in 1999 and an OBE in 2002.
Hunger, his feature debut as a director and screenwriter, landed the Caméra d’Or in the Un Certain Regard section at the past Cannes Festival. (Source: San Sebastian film festival)
