Joachim Trier

Born in 1974, he started filmmaking in 1995, writing and directing several short films, which won him several international awards.

Trier attended the European Film College in Denmark from 1995 to 1997, and later the National Film and Television School Beaconsfield in England, graduating in 2000. He has made a number of short films, three of which – Procter (2002), Still (2001) and Pietà (1999) – have been screened at more than thirty international film festivals and won many awards.

He made his feature film debut in 2006 with Reprise, which has received a number of international awards, including the ”Best Director Award” at Karlovy Vary 2006, ”Discovery Award” in Toronto 2006, the Norwegian National Film Award Amanda for Best film, Best director and Best Screenplay in 2007, and other prizes at festivals such as Istanbul, Rotterdam & Milano, and widespread international recognition in general.
