Rebecca Cremona

Rebecca Cremona is a film director and scriptwriter from Malta. She read her first degree in Film and Comparative Literature at the University of Warwick, UK, and in Film Directing at the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. She won a student EMMY nomination and a Director's Guild of America Jury Prize for "Magdalene", a short film she completed in 2009. After a long period abroad, Rebecca is back on the island to take on some contentious and contemporary issues in her first feature film 'Simshar'. The story is inspired by true events -- tackling issues of irregular migration and the fishing community -- and will be released early next year after being in gestation for five years.
