THE MARKET – A TALE OF TRADE

synopsis
Mihram is an independent young market trader, with a family, who lives in Eastern Turkey. His daily routine is one of drinking, gambling, trading and milking his customers for maximum profit. He dreams of creating his own business in the booming mobile phone sector and has his eye on a suitable place for that kind of business. Unfortunately he cannot afford the investment required. One day, a woman doctor calls on his services: she pays him to purchase medicine from abroad for children in a Turkish hospital. Mihram sees this as an excellent profit opportunity and a way to finally fulfill his dream. He decides to risk spending this money to buy goods that he can resell cheaply, whilst keeping to the terms of his agreement with the woman. Driving through the wild landscapes of Turkey and Azerbaijan in his little red van, Mihram picks up on the way his elderly uncle, Fazil, a clumsy, fearful and comical character. Unfortunately, the young trader comes up against some problems on the way…
