VIVERE

by Francesca Archibugi

synopsis

Vivere revolves around the Attorre family, who live in a decent suburb in a terraced house. Luca (Giannini), a freelance journalist and packager of coloured items, barely makes a living in the newspapers, while Susi (Ramazzotti), a dancer, has been reduced to teaching overweight ladies, and Lucilla, their six-year-old daughter, is quiet and imaginative but suffers from asthma. In a magnificent and incomprehensible Rome, multi-layered, maternal yet unkind, Mary Ann (O'Donovan), an Irish art history student, touches down to start a new job as an au pair to the little Lucilla. One year in Italy at the Attorre home will prove to be full of legitimate and illicit ties, friendship and love.
