THE HUMAN SCALE
synopsis
Urban-planning maestro Jan Gehl is on a mission to reclaim our public spaces, throwing out car-driven urban design and building cities for humans. Director Andreas Dalsgaard charts Gehl's influence around the globe. He formed his ideas about urban space in his hometown of Copenhagen, beginning with diligently recording how people use city streets and squares. His methods inspired a re-imagining of New York's Times Square, the newly iconic laneways of Melbourne and - even closer to home - a game-changing report for the City of Sydney.
