UN NUAGE DANS UN VERRE D'EAU

by Srinath Christopher Samarasinghe

synopsis

Mr. Noun, an Egyptian and former projectionist, and Anna, a young Romanian prostitute, live in the same Parisian building. Although fifty years separate them, they share the same sense of fantasy, and the same taste for crime stories and spaghetti Westerns. Khalil, Mr. Noun's taciturn grandson and a documentary filmmaker, captures their relationship on film. As time goes by, hidden secrets are revealed, clarifying things from the past. All goes well until Mr. Noun disappears one day. His apartment has been turned upside down and his pillow is stained with blood. Shattered, Anna decides to start investigating, helped by the elderly man's ghost, a flying goldfish, and strangely animated news stories about crime.
